Sue Newport Consulting Limited provides clients with effective support in designing, managing, monitoring and evaluating health and development interventions and systems in resource-poor or constrained settings.

Sue Newport Consulting Limited was set up in 2008 by Sue Newport to provide support and services to clients ranging from small NGOs to UN organisations/agencies and including various funding bodies. Sue Newport Consulting continues to have an expanding network of clients located in the UK and across the globe.

Sue Newport - Director

Sue is a global development and health practitioner and consultant known for her effective, collaborative and dynamic approach. She has over 25 years’ experience in the not-for profit management and consultancy sector and has technical expertise in: Sexual and reproductive health (SRH) including HIV/AIDS, family planning, maternal, newborn, child health (MNCH and adolescent SRH): Monitoring and evaluation (M&E) : Organisational development, strategic planning and capacity building; Health systems strengthening (HSS): Gender.

Sue has significant experience ranging from developing business cases, leading start-up projects to become effective result-oriented programmes, and in undertaking evaluations of development projects. She also has substantial experience working with harder to access and vulnerable groups such as adolescents, women, pastoralists, drug users and communities in challenging environments. Sue regularly provides technical assistance to and undertakes evaluations and assessments of SRH/MNCH projects on behalf of funders and NGOs.

Sue has particular expertise and experience of working in Africa and resource poor or constrained settings in South and Central Asia. Sue is skilled in managing varied, and often conflicting, stakeholder interests and in developing productive relationships and alliances. Her proven management and technical skills and expertise are complemented by her excellent communication skills, ability to understand complex organisations and issues quickly and her ability to focus on detail whilst retaining a strategic overview.

Prior to setting up Sue Newport Consulting in 2008, Sue held a number of high-level management and strategic roles including CEO (Maternity Worldwide), Director of Strategic Planning and Information Management (Sightsavers International), Regional Business Manager (Health Protection Agency – now Public Health England) and Regional Director, Africa and Arab World (Marie Stopes International).

Sue is also an established trainer working with individuals and organisations to develop their capacity. Additionally, Sue provides bespoke organisational development and capacity building services including, for example, support with gender mainstreaming and development of gender analysis capacity. Sue is an Associate Trainer with Bond, the UK network for organisations working in international development.

Sue holds a Masters (economics) degree in health planning, policy and financing, and post graduate qualifications in management studies and environmental management. Sue is committed to her own professional development and regularly attends professional meetings and training sessions to ensure that her skills and knowledge are current.
